MuseDAC+ | Audio and I/O HAT for Raspberry Pi | MuseumTech
MuseDAC+
Audio and I/O HAT for Raspberry Pi · In-house development · 2026
One board for sound and peripherals. MuseDAC+ combines a high-quality DAC with an amplifier, LED strip control, analogue inputs and an I/O expander, while leaving every GPIO pin free. Designed for installations that run unattended for years.

Why MuseDAC+
GPIO stays free. Existing DAC HATs occupy almost all pins. MuseDAC+ exposes I/O instead of taking it away.
One image for every installation. Hostname and settings live in the EEPROM on the board, not in the OS. Cloning an SD card is enough.
Connect speakers directly. Integrated 2 × 3 W amplifier, with no separate amplifier required.
Ambience and status in one. RGB LED strip output for lighting and status indication.
Analogue sensors. 8 × ADC channels for buttons, potentiometers, distance or light sensors.
Where it is used
MuseDAC+ is the standard platform inside every MuseumTech installation: audio points, object information screens and interactive displays. The same board runs in escape rooms, where it drives sound, lighting and puzzle sensors from one Raspberry Pi, and in retro arcade systems, where it handles audio, marquee lighting and control inputs without a second controller.
Because every installation shares one OS image, deployment and maintenance across multiple locations comes down to writing the EEPROM and cloning an SD card.

Which Raspberry Pi models are supported?
Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5.
Does it work with standard Raspberry Pi OS?
Yes. Audio and I/O are enabled through a device tree overlay; no custom kernel is needed.
Can I buy a single board for my own project?
Yes. Single boards and small quantities are available on request.
What do I need to change when adding a new installation?
Only the EEPROM contents. The OS image stays identical across all installations.
